The Physics of Warmth

Your body loses heat through radiation, convection, conduction, and evaporation. An effective shelter must block wind (convection), stay dry (evaporation), and insulate you from the ground (conduction).

Tarp Shelter Configurations

Carrying a simple, lightweight tarp in your vehicle or pack allows you to quickly deploy shelters like the A-frame, Lean-to, or Plow point using trees or trekking poles.
